Be Art Ultramarine Blue paste is a high quality, professional grade tinting paste.

Ultramarine is a deep blue colour. It was historically produced by grinding semi-precious stones in a lapidary by grinding lazuli (lasurite) into a fine powder and mixing it with a binder. Lasurite is a royal crystal with a very long history. Legends of lasurite date back to the Sumerian period. They believed that the stone contained the soul of a god, who then merged with the stone bearer. The crystal was associated with divinity, and carrying it meant that the power of the gods accompanied not only the crystal, but also the wearer.Because of the high price of lasurite, ultramarine was once considered a luxury gem and was used mainly in illuminated manuscripts and paintings of the Virgin Mary. Even today, natural ultramarine is as expensive as gold. A synthetic version of ultramarine was developed in the 19th century and is now more commonly used. It is also used in paints, dyes and inks. Be Art Ultramarine Blue is a synthetic version of a traditional pigment made from lazurite, manufactured in Estonia, and is used to add colour to epoxy resins. When mixed with resin, it creates a glossy, highly pigmented surface with a strong blue colour. The colour can vary depending on the amount of pigment added to the resin, but generally it gives a strong, bright blue tone. Be Art Ultramarine Blue is known for its bright and deep blue shade. This beautiful shade is impossible to convey adequately in print and photographs.
