    Name: Olea Europea
    Origin: Southern Europe, Southern Africa
    Other names.

The olive tree grows as a richly branched evergreen and reaches a height of 10-20 metres (depending on the variety). Olive trees are long-lived and can live for hundreds of years. The oldest known specimen is estimated to be 4000 years old.

Olive is considered a very decorative wood. It is very dense, yet very easy to work. The colour of the heartwood is yellowish-white to brownish-red with dark brown streaks.
The wood is used to make musical instruments, furniture, kitchen utensils, etc. Because of its beautiful texture, it is also often used to make art objects, bowls and cutting boards.
